Every home has at least one. You know, it’s that piece of art that just isn’t cutting it anymore. Every time you walk by it, you give a little wince. You’ve tried moving it into other rooms and may have even had thoughts of just getting rid of it, but it was a “gift from a relative” or a keepsake from your honeymoon or maybe you simply paid a lot for it! All good reasons to have second thoughts and all good reasons to consider a simple makeover.
We have simple fixes for this common occurrence and all of them cost less than totally replacing the piece.
Maybe a simple change of the moulding would do the trick – perhaps that red frame that was perfect for the room isn’t so perfect anymore. You’d be amazed how a simple switch to something a little more current can change the entire look of the piece.
Or maybe your room colors have changed and the matting is the culprit. Nothing could be easier (or less expensive) than switching to a mat color that works better with the overall temperature of the room.
Sometimes it can even be the glass that was used in the original framing. The glare it emits keeps you from hanging it on the “perfect” wall because the glare is so strong. We now have many options in glass that can remediate this situation. It’s a simple fix for us and it won’t break the bank!
Finally, maybe the framing is fine, but you’ve grown tired of the art inside of it. With today’s Print-on-Demand technology, the potential is there to print a new piece of art to fit exactly into your existing frame. Or maybe consider removing the artwork and having us install a mirror to use in a guest room or foyer.
So this Spring why not try a little recycling and give your room a whole new look in the bargain.
