As an economist and business consultant, I have taken every opportunity to advocate that we should all be buying local, and we should frequent small, family run businesses whenever possible. But that is not why people who live in the five counties that make up New York’s Capital Region should work with Paul and Patrice who own and run Morningside Gallery. No, the real reason is the level of professionalism and the quality of the services provided.
Morningside Gallery is one of those hidden gems of a business that we all long for but rarely find. It is a place that feels more like visiting family than a business. Yet, the attention to detail and the time spent on even small jobs for their clients is one of the clues that Paul and Patrice take the business they have built very seriously, and that they care very deeply about their reputation. I’ve been coming to Morningside Gallery for almost two decades, and have had them frame diplomas, photographs, posters, art prints, and dozens of paintings. I’ve asked them to restore art that was damaged, and had them help me with unusual pieces of art that I wanted to display. I’ve bought at least two pieces of original art from their gallery, and have spent hours talking with them about art, politics, gardening, and the weather.
If you are reading this you owe to yourself to find something in your house that you have always thought about displaying, take it to Morninside Gallery, and talk with Paul and Patrice about your ideas. Better yet, you don’t need an excuse to experience one of the best small businesses in the area. Just stop by and say hello, and take a few minutes to enjoy the art that adorns the walls.
